How to Troubleshoot and Repair DELL E151FP LCD Monitor With No Power Problem

The Dell E151FP LCD monitor came with a symptom and not the power to open you up the cover, I saw some of the components that were burned. Burned R623 (4.7 ohm) on the side and you could see even color code the resistance. The current sense resistor (0.68 ohm) outer layer had been partially burned, and easily came off and the filter capacitor C605 (68UF 400V), one of the pins had been rusted and broke when I tried to desolder the pin.

This is not a new model and I think manyExperienced engineers had solved the problem. But for those who have not come across this problem, you can repair the application of the procedure for troubleshooting, and any other type of LCD monitor power problem.

I will first transformer and make sure it's okay rings with Dick Smith flyback tester. I do this first, because I do not want to waste my time checking out other components, and later that the transformer caused the problem of power. When it rings okay Imeasure all the secondary diode. For your information most of the LCD monitor power supply dual Schottky diodes and spread the specification is usually 10 to 20 amps at about 40 volts. But I still have a few come across does not use the extremely fast recovery type diodes in the secondary sector. Make sure you know how to check a normal diode and a Schottky diode. Refer to my website in the diode section and search for Schottky diode test article. I will consider itfor the ESR of electrolytic capacitors.

When I confirmed that the secondary components are all tested in order, I would be all the components in the primary site be removed. Some components of the primary page, you can check on board, like the bridge and fuse. If I am new to the LCD monitor model I would consider all components of board (away) with a lead time of board. This way you will be sure that all components that have scanned through.

These are theComponents, which I found to be defective, fuse 2A, R615-0, 68 Ohm, 1K, R613, R612-47 ohm, R623-4.7ohm, 1N4148-D604, Q601-SSS6N60A, C605-68UF 400V and IC601-UC3842B. A total of nine components and it took less than 20 minutes to check all the components in primary side. Now is the time to search for replacement parts. After about 5 minutes into the spare compartment I managed to find all the components except the power FET SSS6N60A.

Although this part number is used mainly in switching power supplies powerdeliver my email provider is not this stock. I would then browse through the semiconductor data book for the search for appropriate part number. From the book, it beats the K1118 to use as a substitute. After all the components in their original place or location and of course with the power transformer have been soldered, I do not think you immediately turn the power supply. I would also involve the first use of a 100 watt light bulb in series with the live. Is the best place to put the light bulbthe fuse holder area. They are carrying one of the backup and connect the lamp over them. Power to them and begin to observe the bulb. If it remains bright and so then there are problems in the power supply. However, if the lamp is not lit at all then this is a good sign that work is the power supply can be.

Use a multimeter on the secondary power locally. If you have some accurate voltage reading from the output and the lamp does not light at all, then this isconfirmed that the power supply is working. Switch off the power supply and connect back the fuse and turn the LCD Monitor on again. I’m very sure the LCD Monitor will now work.

Whether you are troubleshooting the DELL E151FP LCD Monitor or other brands, you can always use the procedure given above to repair the power supply problem. This method can be even use to repair other types of power supply too. No matter what types of power supply you are troubleshooting, just make sure you know how to examine and test the electronic components. If you ever miss one, sad to say, you would not be able to solve the problem or it may only take you a lot of your precious hours until the job is completed. Happy hunting!
